Pad Work
Pads are a useful tool for all levels and we use pads to practise a wide variety of hand and foot striking techniques. A beginner can learn how to strike without being hurt whilst an experienced martial artist can built power, height and range of techniques.
Pads work should be a dynamic practise, with the person holding the pads being as much involved as the person striking. The person holding the pad should provide the striker with good targets and feedback on the quality of their strikes. For example, We often using a rating of 1 to 5 as a way of providing feedback, with 1 being a poor strike and 5 being a well executed powerful strike.
This section of the practise also provides excellent cardio and stamina training. A popular practise is the "circle of death" where one person is surrounded by several pads and has to work at striking these as well and as often as possible during a certain amount of time.
